My 2 Wheeled Life

Vespa

I was surprised to see a Vespa pull into my company’s parking lot a few minutes ago. It belongs to a builder working with one of our clients. I’m glad he parked beside my Met, it made for a happy picture.

sometimes when it rains

If we have no clients coming into the office, and if the sky starts threatening to rain, I move my scooter up onto the covered front entry porch.

It certainly won’t keep me dry riding home on wet roads, but at least my butt won’t become instantly soaked when I sit down to ride home. Plus, I like being able to see my scooter from my desk. I always move her around front when the guys in the back room leave for the day. I prefer to keep an eye on her.

dreaming of a road trip

We love riding our scooters. Love it! I love that we’re now riding them almost exclusively to work every day. (Not today, since we have to go somewhere after work.) I love the gas savings, and I love the joy riding my scooter brings.

Hubby and I have talked about doing a road trip on our scooters. The problem is, we’d like to ride places that are difficult to get to on a scooter. Obviously we cannot ride on a highway, so we need to plan a trip with the Element and the scooters. Once we get to our destination in the Element, we can ride about on our scooters. But, this is so not practical:

Companies like Auto Transportation Worldwide will transport cars just about anywhere. I wonder if they would transport our scooters? We have talked about finding a company, like the auto train or something, to get us and our scooters to our destination and back. Clearly we need to look into it, because we’re itching to see the world on two wheels.

2.4 miles from home last night

I had to pull over and take a picture. You understand.

1,000 miles!

And yes, I was out of gas.

My husband remains about 130 miles behind me. Funny how just the six additional miles I ride per day adds up.

going without me

I had to take the Element to work today because I have someplace to be until late tonight. Hubby took his Ruckus. I followed behind on the drive to work.

And this is where he turns to go to work while I continue straight on to my place of employment:

I rode my Met three days this week, he rode his Ruckus four days. But I’ll kill our gas savings with this seminar I have to attend today and tomorrow.

forecast for this afternoon

According to this map, the storm should be right over me as I’m preparing to leave work on my scooter.

Husband just left, and it just started raining. He called and said he’s going to try to stay ahead of it.

scooting along

With husband’s new work hours, we wanted to start scooting daily to work last week. Last Monday, we scooted, and it rained heavily all afternoon. It made the ride home wet. No, we didn’t ride in the rain; we rode in breaks in the weather. It rained every single day last week, so we drove the car.

Yesterday, we had to bring something large to hubby’s work, so we took the car. Good thing since it poured all afternoon.

Today, we scooted. Hubby gets off work by 330p. He had a gorgeous ride home. I get off at 430p. I had a gorgeous ride home. The ride to work at 7a is considerably easier due to less traffic, so these new hours work for us, I guess. But I do miss the company on my ride home.

That being said, I think some random man at a bus stop hit on me as I waited at a red light. Hey, a girl on a scooter is an attractive thing!

Co-worker E has decided to start riding his Moto Guzzi to work every other week to save on gas. Bossman J tweaked his trailer, and decided to test it out and make sure it’s stable before an upcoming road trip. Me, I’m a scooter kind of girl!

seen at Waterford

We rode up to Waterford Lakes Shopping Plaza today. It was a great ride. We thought it best to lock up our scooters while we walked the plaza. So, we parked beside a cart return at the Target end of the plaza.

This three-wheeled scooter was parked outside the Panera:

I’ve only seen them online, so I thought it was really cool!
