My 2 Wheeled Life

I would scoot 500 miles

And I will scoot 500 more!

This was Thursday evening at my husband’s office after work.

It’s not easy being safety green

Thursday, I wore green.

Bossman G: Are you auditioning to be a construction safety cone?
Me: It’s not easy being safety green!

Again, via GirlBike, I want to order myself a seat cover. I’m leaning toward this material.

gas me up

The headline reads Area Drivers Paying Up To $4 A Gallon. On Sunday, we paid $3.34 for gas in Kissimmee, and that was fifteen cents cheaper than anywhere else we saw it. This is why we take our super-efficient scooters to work.

This morning, on the way to work, I realized I was about to run out of gas. Poor planning on my part. We have been filling our scooters at home with a gas can. So today was our first time filling up at a service station.

We payed $3.49 per gallon. Mine took just over a gallon of fuel, his took considerably less since he was not empty. We paid $6.57 for gas this morning.

The Element is taking over $40 per fill up right now.

misty morning on Lake Rowena

taken at the red light at Princeton & Mills. I believe that is Lake Rowena, but I could be mistaken.

fine drizzle

As I was preparing to leave work yesterday, there was a single small black cloud over my office. The rest of the sky was brilliant blue. Five minutes later, on the road, the sky looked like this directly over my head:

I rushed to meet up with hubby. As we raced home, the pretty blue was rapidly overcome by gray clouds.

About five miles from home, we encountered a very fine, misty drizzle for about a mile. But, we did beat the rain home. Thank goodness.

newer, busier roads

We had to attend mass yesterday morning before work. It was the anniversary of my FIL’s death, and we attend mass every year with my MIL. She switched churches. The new church is off a considerably busier road. It’s near Semoran and Colonial. These are roads I avoid in my car.

I took the picture because I hope never to be at this intersection on my scooter ever again. But looking at the picture, I’m amused at the “Latin Hooters” restaurant I captured! The things you don’t notice in a car!

These two are taken at the intersection of Semoran and Lake Underhill.

This doesn’t really capture how super busy this intersection is.

This is at Colonial and Semoran. An intersection we loathe and never, ever go to in a car. It was disconcerting on two wheels.

But, we survived. And chalk it up to experience. And blog fodder!

Female Ride Day Approaching

Oooh! Via GirlBike I have learned that next Friday, May 2nd, is International Female Ride Day.

FEMALE RIDE DAY is for women who ride motorcycles no matter what form, or style–no matter the age, or experience. Motorcycles of all makes and capacities–scooters, sport bikes, dirt bikes or ATV’s.
The campaign’s slogan of “JUST RIDE” is a simple request of women riders and is by this method female rider awareness is created and enjoyed. It’s concept is not attached to a charity, nor is it a fundraiser or for that fact, a controlled event–riders are free to make the day entirely as they so wish. Women are invited to join in, enjoy the camaraderie Internationally and be on their motorcycle on the first Friday each May — Friday 2 May 2008.

Cool! I’ll have to participate.

We scootered yesterday and again today. I’ll have more to say about that later on. Just wanted to let you know I still love my scooter.

exploring neighborhoods on Lake Conway

Filed under: Metropolitan, Ruckus, Scooters, The View — wRitErsbLock April 14, 2008 @ 11:44 am

Last night, we went for a ride around Lake Conway. We rode into various neighborhoods just to check out the view and the houses.

This is the view of Lake Conway from one of the private boat ramps we found.

And this is looking back at our scooters from the water’s edge.

Curious signage.

SWIM AT YOUR OWN RISK!
NO SWIMMING!

Rich people can’t make up their minds!

It was a great ride. We were out at least an hour, and probably an hour and a half. It was chilly as a cold front moved through yesterday afternoon, bringing much rain that prevented a ride earlier in the day.

That same cold front kept us from riding to work today.
